one of the requirements you must submit to japanese embassy when you will invite someone here in japan and you will declare that you will support your visitors financial statement, there is a need to submit your income tax certificate(known in japanese as SYOTOKUZEI SYOUMEISYO).

if you are working here in japan with a visa as resident or non-resident, you are absolutely paying taxes. income tax certificate can be get on the city hall where you live.

the following are the things you should know when applying for income tax certificate on city/ward office at your area.
(1)go to the information desk and ask for income tax certificate section.
(2)some personnel ask for your alien registration card in that section so better to bring it.
(3)sometimes they also ask for a document named "SHIMINZEI/TOMINZEI", which actually given to you by your company every end of year. so better to bring it also.

the income tax certificate will bi given to you at an instant. it takes only 5 to 10 minutes to wait.
